<p>The first and most important thing to do when adding exercise to a daily schedule is to make exercise one of the day&#8217;s priorities. When exercise is considered an important part of the day, keeping it on the schedule is easy. Rewarding a person for completing an exercise program is an excellent motivator to encourage the person to make time to exercise. Most people will find the time to exercise if there is some sort of motivation for completion. Motivation can be as minimal as seeing a movie at the end of the week or as elaborate as planning a vacation at the end of six months.†</p>

<p>An easy way to make the correct food choices to help with weight-loss is by creating a list of foods that are both filling and low in fat and calories. This list should be kept handy so that it can be referred to when hunger strikes. Fruits and vegetables are an obvious addition to the list and should be considered first when dieting. Additionally, the soft, gel-like discs located between your vertebrae are made of cartilage, and cartilage can grow constantly throughout our lifetime via growth hormones. These intervertebral discs are the &#8220;shock absorbers&#8221; of the spine. When combined, the intervertebral discs are responsible for up to 25% of a person&#8217;s height, which means that the thicker your discs, the longer your spinal column is, and consequentially, the taller you can become.</p>
<p>While the preceding anatomy lesson may seem a bit technical &#8211; if not completely boring &#8211; the bottom line is that you can gain in height. Getting taller is achieved by manipulating and exercising your spine, stretching your body to facilitate a good posture, and making lifestyle changes to stimulate growth hormones and strengthen bones.</p>
<p><strong>General exercises that help:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><em>Hanging</em> &#8211; Nothing complicated here. Simply hang straight from a bar. This will help to lengthen and strengthen your back by using the gravity of your body weight to elongate and relax the spine.</li>
<li> <em>The Down Hill </em>- Stand hands together and arms behind your back (arms straight), bend down at the waist as far as you can, and slowly raise your arms as high as you can. Reps should last between 4 and 8 seconds. This exercise simulates a typical downhill skier’s movements.</li>
<li><em>Touch toes </em>- Again, not rocket science. Stand with hands high above your head, bend over, touch your toes, keeping the legs as straight as possible. Each repetition should last between 2 to 4 seconds.</li>
<li><em>Reverse Legs Up</em> &#8211; Laying face down and straight, raise your legs up behind you as high as possible, keeping your feet together. Reps should last 3 seconds.</li>

<p>These are very basic exercises and stretches that will help to improve your posture and elongate your spine. In addition, activities such as martial arts, swimming, even jogging have been known to positively affect a person&#8217;s relaxed standing height.</p>
